Hydraulic Swing Clamp Cylinder

Lower-flange-mount swing-clamp hydraulic cylinders have a flange below the body and are mounted to the surface of a fixture using flange-mounting bolts and are plumbed directly on the flange. These cylinders are very compact and exert high clamping force in relation to their size. They also rotate when they extend and retract, making it easy to add or remove parts from the fixture.

These cylinders are single-acting hydraulic clamping and unclamping devices that require only one hydraulic line. Clamping and unclamping are regulated by a flow control valve that should be installed on the G ports of the cylinders. The moment of inertia (arm length and mass) must be factored in determining the proper swing speed for the cylinder. See the graph below for swing time values. em
